Water Heaters

Water heaters are County Line Plumbing specialty! We replace water heaters almost every day, the truth is, they just don’t last as long as they used to. And most of us don’t think about the importance and convenience of hot water until it’s too late. To avoid a cold shower and, more importantly, serious water damage, such as a flooded basement, here are four signs that your water heater needs to be replaced:

  1. Fluctuating hot water volume or temperature
  2. A banging or clunking sound
  3. Signs of leaking
  4. Calcification at the top of the unit

What can homeowners do to make their water heater last longer?

Simple maintenance can help increase the lifespan of a water heater. Sediment builds up in the bottom of the tank and that sediment reduces efficiency and capacity. We recommend flushing out your tank twice a year. If you’re not comfortable with this process, County Line Plumbing & Heating will be happy to handle this maintenance for you.

When it comes time to replace your water heater, leave it to a licensed professional at County Line Plumbing & Heating. Working with a device that has a pressure and temperature-controlled tank can be tricky. The pressure from the water being overheated and the thermal expansion is so great that it will blow the bottom out and can take off like a rocket through multiple floors and through your roof!

At County Line Plumbing & Heating, we sell the best models from the top brands and emphasize energy-efficient solutions that will lower your monthly bill and maximize your investment. We are here to help you make the ideal choice based on your budget and the needs of your household. Whether it be natural gas, propane, electric, tankless or conventional tank, standard or power-vented, we will walk you through the process to determine the most appropriate water heater for your home and family.

CONVENTIONAL VS TANKLESS

The Conventional Tank Water Heater features a tank that holds water to be heated. The capacity of the tank determines how much hot water you have available at once. The tank is insulated so that when the water heats up, it remains warm until it is needed.

When hot water is needed for a faucet or appliance, the heated water comes out of the tank and through the domestic hot-water piping. As the hot water depletes in the tank, it’s refilled with cold water, and the process starts over again.

The Tankless Water Heater, also known as an on-demand water heater, features more modern technology and can offer nearly endless hot water for your home. Instead of a tank, there are super-heated coils that fill with water and can heat water in a flash as you need it. Tankless water heaters are incredibly energy efficient because they only heat water on demand instead of holding heated water all day, even when it is not being used. Tankless water heaters are great for larger families, specifically who take back-to-back showers around the same time. However, if your water is hard, you are probably not a candidate for tankless water heaters.
